  Clean Industry
Hazardous and E-Waste

Without proper management, recycling or disposal, hazardous wastes could be a major source of toxic pollution and a threat to our lives and the natural environment. Toxics Link, over the years, has been propagating clean production in India. It has been part of the National Committee for Hazardous Waste Landfill and Incinerator Standards since 2001. In 2003, both the National Guidelines of Hazardous Waste Landfills as well as Incinerators were drafted by the regulatory authorities and they are likely to be notified as National Standards.

Toxics Link has been working actively on various issues related to hazardous waste and its illegal import into India. It has raised issues related to electronic wastes (e-waste); lead acid batteries, ship-breaking, and the international waste trade. Proper hazardous waste management should be an integral part of any industrial operation. Toxics Link strives for clean production technologies, monitoring the enforcement of existing regulations; and working in collaboration with civil society, industry and government to achieve the desired objective.
